Susan Werbe, Class of 1968

Susan Werbe, ‘68, served as Vice President Programming and Executive Producer for the History Channel from 1997-2014. She won two Primetime Emmy Awards, including one for the 2008 documentary “102 Minutes That Changed America,” on 9/11. She also won a Peabody Award for a 2006 documentary “Voices of Civil Rights” and created numerous, in-depth historical series, including “History’s Mysteries,” which had 154 episodes. During a turbulent period in Berkeley, Werbe worked at the Daily Cal, beginning as an education writer before rising to editorial page editor and managing editor.

Early in her career, she served as a producer for CBS News, including work with Walter Cronkite, Bill Moyers, and Connie Chung.
