Bruce Jenkins, Class of 1971
Bruce Jenkins, ’71, has written for the San Francisco Chronicle sports section for the past 53 years, including as an award-winning sports columnist since 1989. He has covered 27 World Series, 19 Wimbledons and many other major events, including the Super Bowl, World Cup soccer, the NBA Finals, the four major golf tournaments and the U.S. Open tennis championships.
A sportswriter for the Daily Cal, Jenkins has authored one biography of legendary Cal basketball coach Pete Newell, and another about his father, Gordon Jenkins, an arranger, composer and pianist who worked with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billie Holiday.
